 When we create we are in a relaxed but aware state, similar to meditation. We lose ourselves in the creative process and forget our problems. This altered state of consciousness reduces stress. The ability to be completely present has profound benefits in stress reduction.

The act of art making is healing in itself. Art is a tactile, sensory experience that is enlivening. The playfulness awakens the child states of curiosity and joy and is a healthy stress release through learning to let go and transform mistakes into opportunities.
