LAND ART / EARTH ART

just before the winter set in we had a fantastic four week journey into Land Art - visiting the beach, the forrest and the park to create art works with and from nature...

not only was it fantastic to be outdoors and connecting with mother earth - the process also allowed for the discovery of the judgmental voices that we have internally and how these impede our ability to be creative. the power of nature enabled students to 'let -go' and surrender to mother earth and just being with the creation for a moment in time...hearing the messages and moving on...was a powerful experience

the inability to 'control' and the fact that students had to leave the art works where they were, honour them and then surrender them back to the earth created important mirrors for the art works we create in the studio....learning to be non-attached to the outcome and rather enjoy the process and discover what emerges for each individual in the process is more important than trying to create something 'pretty' or something that will be judged both personally and by those around you...

a fun, very different art class that was enjoyed by all...here are some pictures....
